Profile
The doctor behind the practice
Consultant ophthalmic surgeon with a surgical focus on cataract and lens surgery. He trained at the Hospital of the Brothers of St John of God in Vienna, where he is deputy head of the eye outpatient department and performs around 800 cataract operations a year. Every patient of this practice meets him at the first appointment, and he is the surgeon who operates.
Cataract surgery has been his operative field since specialist training. Alongside it he researches intraocular lenses, teaches medical and nursing students, and since 2022 has volunteered in Guatemala, operating in regions without eye surgery and training local doctors.
The Vienna Cataract Center is his second practice. He built it around a single procedure so that routine grows where it matters most to you.

How he works
What this means for your treatment
One face, every step
Assessment, consent discussion, surgery and every check afterwards: you see the same doctor at every appointment.
Measure first, then advise
OCT imaging and optical biometry come first. Only then follows the recommendation for or against surgery, and for a lens.
Complex starting points too
Small pupils, weak lens support, previous operations: complex cataract surgery is part of everyday work, in Vienna as on surgical missions. Ongoing training in vitreoretinal surgery extends the range to vitreous and retina.
Meet him at your assessment
Measurements, honest advice and a written fixed quote. Whether you go ahead with surgery is a decision you make afterwards, at your own pace.
