Our specialty
Told you have a cataract? Start here.
Perhaps your optician spotted it, or night driving has become harder and colours look washed out. A cataract diagnosis raises the same questions everywhere: how bad is it, when to operate, which lens, what will it cost?
This practice exists to answer exactly those questions, in English, with measurements instead of guesswork. The assessment gives you OCT images, biometry, a recommendation and a fixed written quote. What you do with it stays your decision.
Fees at a glance

Questions from internationals
What Vienna's expats ask us
Is the whole visit really in English?
Yes. The consultation, the explanation of your findings, the written report and the invoice: all in English if you wish. German, of course, works just as well.
Do I need a referral from a general practitioner?
No. In Austria you can book an ophthalmologist directly, and private practices like ours set their own appointments. That is one reason waiting times stay short.
What does an eye examination cost?
A cataract assessment including OCT imaging is €250. You receive a transparent invoice you can submit to your insurance. All fees are on our costs page.
I do not have a cataract. Can I still come?
Our practice concentrates on cataract diagnosis and surgery, and the examination itself is a full eye check-up. If we find something outside our surgical focus, we tell you exactly what it is and refer you to the right colleague, with an English report in hand.
Does Austrian or international insurance cover the visit?
Private and international plans often reimburse ophthalmology visits; Austrian public insurance refunds part of a Wahlarzt fee in many cases. Cover depends on your policy, so check the conditions. Our invoices are itemised to make claims easy.
